All this while I've been thinking about body language and been noticing about how people react when I talked to them. I'm getting more aware because some gestures put me off. It keeps me thinking and wanting to know more. Coincidentally I chanced upon a book called Body Language Secrets.
Its a very small book so I finished it in a few hours just now after unpacking some of my things which I retrieved from Extra Space. Now looking at them, I really have too many books.
Although we were taught not to judge a book by the book cover, however there are some examples that we do that unconsciously or sub consciously even though we know not to judge. They are the first impression that came from most people.
If your new acquaintances you met are tall, you will tend to think they are successful and intelligent.
If they are smaller, you will tend to think they are ineffectual for men or in need of protection for women.
If they are above normal weight, you may think they are easy going but lazy.
If your new acquaintances are attractive or fashionable, you are likely to expect them to be confident and at ease.
So that's why some people want to be taller, some want to be smaller; why some people want to look thinner and some want to be chubbier; why some people want to dress up while the rest neglect about it.
All because to create a good impression to others. I think it really depends on individual. No style can be the best impression if we are just being bothered by what others think. Most importantly we are comfortable with ourselves and wear clothes that are comfortable then we are at ease to network with not much problem.
However it is definitely ok if you want to dress to impress due to special occassions or pageants where glam is almost everything.
There are more...
If she is female, you will expect her to be socially welcoming so you may smile and move forward; if he is male, you will expect him to be more confronting and assertivel so you may stay back.
If the gender is unclear, you will get confused, irritated and anxious.
I think about the gender it also depends on how they dressed, behave and look.
Without good looks and real bad attitudes we better stay away from them.
With good looks and but sucky attitude is really a turn off.
With good looks and great personalities that is what many people are looking for.
With not so good looks and great personalities, I don't mind having such people in my life.
I think personalities will affect how you look. So go on to adopt the habit of exploring great personalities. Another one is being positive. This attitude is so important in order to attract people into your life. Of course there might be some nasty people who are out there to make you suffer a little. I'm sure these kind of people will leave your life once you know how to tackle them unless your energy forever in sync with theirs somehow and that is fated for some unknown reasons...
I shall end here.
Happy Labour Day to all and may the peace be with you.
