Feedbacks on SNFC 2009

I finally gather enough time and courage to write this out after receiving several feedbacks from parents and other students regarding the recent FreeStyle Skating competition in Singapore - Singapore National FreeStyle Championship 2009.

If you think I'm wrong in anyway, please raise your words out. If you agree with my words, I appreciate your supports too. Thank you very much.

I hope that the future competitions come with a fixed schedule/timeline for each Category. This is what most Big Events have and almost follow. Of course the timing for each Category might not be exactly punctual like what was posted but at least the public know the sequence for each category so that they won't be wasting time waiting for their turn.

There are people who will love to watch and participate, but the events are not organized and people got turned off and might say "You are not organized enough." or " I don't know when will be my turn and I have to wait for 8 hour. Damn, I don't think I want to participate next year", etc. Worse, they won't say a thing, and things might go badder for you. I don't know what they might tell others behind the scene... All these are possibilities.

If they are interested to watch Slalom particularly, they have to wait for 5 hours, do you think they will want to wait?

In other words, to attract more outsiders into these kinda events, we gonna get more organized.

If you are going to tell the public, "Oh, due to budget so we are not organized enough." or "Due to unforseen circumstances, so we don't organize the start time." Do you think the public will accept that reason?

Their time and money are spent on your events, so we gonna respect them...

If your purpose to hold events and competitions is to prevent people from participating, then I think you should not put out any timeline like what Standard Chartered did for the public to view. Or simply hold events for your own people, not open to public. More people participate means more money coming in, ain't that the purpose for an event and competitions, etc?

Take Standard Chartered Marathon as an example. http://www.singaporemarathon.com/Runners/Race_Information.aspx

Race Categories
Individual Categories Start Time
Full Marathon (42.195km) 5.30 am
Half Marathon (21.1km) 6.45 am
10km - Men 7.45 am
10km - Women 8.30 am
Wheelchair Race (10km) 9.00 am

You may ask the organizers of this fantastic Marathon Race, how much money and time does it takes to arrange the timeline for each category and post it out for the public to see?

So above are the Categories... Participants especially from the public or schools will be more than happy to know what time does each category starts.
Exmple:

I think it will be better for every one of us include organizers, own people (skaters), the public (both watchers and skaters)... even if it rains, the sequence still remains unchanged, fair enough?

I really really really hate the idea on writing this out. Please take this as a feedback. We understand that its hardwork for you all. We hope to help you improve your future events in all ways. Which means more money coming in for you too ;)

Thanks alot to the organizers for SNFC. Without you all, these kind of events and competitions won't happen. Looking forward for more improvements on the future events and competions.

Thank you for your time to read.

I am Ser Koon's father and I fully agree with with you. The tournament has to be more organized if we want to woo a wider audience and to promote inline skating in Singapore. A fixed schedule/ time line will be a good starting point.

Having said that, I want to congratulate the SNFC organizers for their efforts. It is always easier to critique from the sidelines and with the benefit of hindsight. Still, this is precisely how feedbacks, especially constructive ones, can be useful.
