If you want to know my face, I prefer that you meet me up personally. The girl who is always very queitly training by herself in the green rink during weekends late afternoon; sometimes slalom, sometimes slide, sometimes spin, sometimes slack... She's got her hair short, so you might missed her out if you just glance for a short while.
Shall post afew pictures & slalom videos for you all to review some times later because not convenient on current PC. Hee~
I'm sure every one of you know that a few competitions are coming up. Train hard to those who are participating! And happy watching to those who are waiting for those competitions videos! So which group do you belong to? The participants or the audiences?
As a particiapant, one will be able to experience the tention and rush of adrenalin for being watched by hundreds, thousands even 10 thousands of audiences. So how can one handle it? Although I've only been a competitor for a few times, but I've learnt that focusing is a very important technique in handling nervousness. So how can you focus?
The basic technique to focusing is just concentrate on your breath like how you do while meditating! The difference is deep breathing at the beginning for controlling nervousness which will transform to a tranquility after a while, whereas natural state of breathing for meditations.
I realize that while I breath I tend to become more nervous at first, but after that while I start to occupy myself with warming up and telling myself what to do, I will start to calm down. All these years, I've been finding ways to curb nervousness, and it is so easy afterall!
Some advices to all before competitions:
- Do warm up exercises including stretching to ease muscle tensions.
- Rehearse your tricks you are going to perform in competition briefly either physically or mentally a few days before and in any repetitions.
- Drink enough water or sports drink to replenish body fluid essential for cramps prevention.
- Have enough sleep. But I understand that most of you will tend to lose sleep due to nervousness that includes me.
- Increase intake of food on those non-training days before competition.
- Remember to take breakfast and or lunch before the competition. Try to avoid spicy and oily food.
As the audiences, you just need to sit infront of the PC and click click click to the video destinations, da-duh! There's our Slalom Angel performing some easy tricks manoeuvring through those tiny cones. Lalala~ You can imagine, righto?
But most important part of being an audience is to capture the tricks that the participants and practise them! You want to copy the participants tricks, while, no one can stop you! Do go ahead. Remember to improvise that particular tricks with your own style and put it into your routine. When I say routine, you know ah.
Take it as showing appreciations to the participants who have showed you their overall routines, we would like to invite you to participate in the next competition, is'nt it a great deal? Age does'nt matter, winning or losing does'nt matter too!
Heck care of what others are thinking, it's a modernized society now! Look at how many people dare to take part in Singapore Idol, American Idol, American Top Model and etc. Look at those participants, they have got the courage while some are not qualified due to?
There are some who have no talents, no looks, no figure, but have you ever thought, why did they participate at the very first place? It's really surprising, because they know that if they don't try now, they will have to wait for another year to participate again.
So,
If You Don't Try, You Would'nt Know.
