Finally, I'm finishing a course that I've been following since May. I thoroughly enjoyed the course. I always seek for improvements. I wish that there are more opportunities for me to improve and grow in various ways. Anyway, this course is called Inspiring Leadership through Emotional Intelligence.
I have spent most of my free time going through this course. Below are some of the contents.
Positive Emotional Attractor (PEA) which helps us to thrive and Negative Emotional Attractor (NEA) which helps us to survive. If you were to go through NEA, you need 3-6 times of the time with PEA in order to sustain learning and change. Look like a reminder to be in PEA have to be as long as possible.
Staying in touch with your personal vision, Ideal Self, and dreams – and reflecting on them from time to time – helps us to stay longer in the PEA and be more open to new ideas, relationships, possibilities, learning, and change.
NEA activates the sympathetic nervous system which is the system that tells us to fight or flight. PEA activates the parasympathetic nervous system which prompt us into the state of relaxation. Both are essential but in order to thrive we should spend most of our time in PEA.
Increased development and use of emotional, social and cognitive intelligence competencies enhances effectiveness of professionals, managers, and leaders in wide-ranging occupations and countries – and these competencies can be significantly developed in adults.
Outstanding leaders often show several common traits. They are:
Mindfulness, Compassion, Hope and Playfulness activate renewal and help us create or enhance resonant relationship.
Next we talk about Intentional Change Theory. In short it's called 5 ICT Discoveries. There are 5 steps to it.
I hope that there will be such course again in future. It is so inspiring, meaningful and enjoyable. I love the practical part whereby we need to hold coaching sessions for people who we think are outstanding. These sessions gave me further insights of how people around me think.
May you enjoy the reading and be inspired.
